We all know and love YouTube. Everyone from influencers to big businesses love using it for its marketing power and reach. As viewers, people spend hours on the video platform watching everything from product demos to launch announcements and everything in between.
The question is, how are you as a brand or entity capturing their attention? Are your videos leaving viewers with a viable call-to-action? Does your video end on something that engages and captures audiences? There’s only one way to do all of that and that’s with a YouTube end card.
In this blog, we’ll go over what a YouTube end card is, how to create your own with an end card template and customize the end screen to fit your brand.
What is a YouTube end card?
A YouTube end screen is usually an interactive piece of content for your video that should work as a way to capture your viewer’s attention and lead them to watch more of your videos. They tend to be quick and simple elements that help build retention and allow you to grow your subscriber base.

What dimensions should my YouTube end card be?
When it comes to finding the perfect size for your YouTube end card template, there are many factors to take into consideration. Remember, standard sizing for YouTube is 1280px by 720px and HD aspect ratio is 1920px by 1080px.

What’s the best length of a YouTube end screen?
After watching a video that’s anywhere from one minute all the way up to 20 minutes, the last thing you want your viewers to see is a long-end screen. Just like most things in video marketing, the shorter the better. Keep your end card anywhere from 5-20 seconds long and must be at the end of your video, obviously. Remember to make them informative and provide some sort of call-to-action for your viewers.
Some valuable things you should remember:
- Videos must be at least 25 seconds long to have an end screen. This isn’t a TikTok or Instagram Reel, so make sure you have a video of substance.
- If you have other interactive elements, like card teasers or video watermarks, they will be suppressed during your end screen.
- There are some restrictions to what content can have end screens. Content made for kids, the YouTube music app, flash videos, mobile web or 360 videos, are videos that end screens aren’t available for.
