You might have seen WeVideo at ISTE this year, but did you know that we were awarded there, too? If not, let us share the news: WeVideo has officially earned the 2023 Common Sense Selection for Learning award!
Not only were we granted this prestigious award from Common Sense Education — we were also given a perfect 5 stars on their overall learning rating.
Read on to learn more about this award and what it means for your classroom and district.
How Common Sense Selections Are Made
Common Sense Selections are made by Common Sense Education, a nonprofit organization that evaluates educational tools and provides trustworthy third-party reviews so that parents and educators can make more informed decisions in school and at home.
Awards are based on a thorough evaluation from Common Sense Education experts, including their holistic assessment as well as numerical ratings across a rigorous 14-point rubric. Two highlights from the WeVideo review include a 5-star rating on both Engagement and Pedagogy!
Here’s just a small preview of what Common Sense Education has to say about our impact on learners:
“WeVideo will help students acquire editing skills, but the educational impact extends far beyond that. When students create videos or other types of media, they have an opportunity to exercise creativity, work in an authentic, real-world way, and practice their communication and critical thinking skills.”
What we appreciate most about this award is that it’s not just based on the tech details or the bells and whistles of our platform (...which we have to say are pretty great!) but rather on how promising WeVideo is for real-world teachers. In other words, can WeVideo actually be used to “develop students' and teachers' creative and critical skills, give students and teachers meaningful agency, and help learners build conceptual knowledge”?
That’s what the Common Sense Selection philosophy is all about, and our 2023 award confirms that we absolutely are a “transformative learning experience.”
